The İzmir Atatürk Museum is situated in a historic Neoclassical building on the 1st Kordon. The city of İzmir gifted the mansion to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1926, and he used it as his headquarters and personal residence during his many visits to the city. The museum, which has the distinction of being the first art museum established by a bank in Turkey, exhibits works selected from Ziraat Bankası’s rich art collection. The historical Ziraat Bankası İzmir branch building, built in 1930, was converted into a museum with restoration works that started in 2018. The museum makes a significant contribution to İzmir’s culture and art life with its temporary exhibition hall, children’s education workshop, and digital experience areas.
Ege University Museum of Ethnography
Ege University, Museum of Ethnography was founded with the objective of safeguarding and archiving both tangible and intangible cultural values and create a museum for the examples of folk costumes and musical instruments with ethnographic qualities that have reached till today.
In Ege University, Museum of Ethnography, housing ethnographic objects related to folk music, traditional costumes, folk dances and folk music instruments from Balkan Countries and Turkic World, next to the 2.300 pieces of traditional clothing, 110 pieces of folk music instruments, the total number of the items on display is 3.400 with the accessories, weaponry, chests and closets added.
Torbalı Erdoğan Özgörkey Automobile Museum (Key Museum)
The museum was established in May 6 2015 with the automobile collection that Ozgorkey family have. It is one of the widest automobile museums in the country. The museum is set in 7,000 square meters and exhibits different collections that come from Turkey and all around the world.
Arkas Art Bornova
Arkas Art Bornova hosts the Arkas Carpet Collection under the roof of the historical Mattheys Mansion, one of the most beautiful buildings of its time, which was renovated by Arkas Holding. The Arkas Carpet Collection, which has been brought together for more than 30 years, has become one of the most significant carpet collections in the world, bringing together rare examples of Anatolian Carpets of the Classical Period, Anatolian Tribal Carpets, Ottoman Palace Carpets and European tapestries. A selection of Anatolian Carpets produced between the 16th and 19th centuries mainly in Western and Central Anatolia, is on display in Arkas Art Bornova.

Zübeyde Hanım Maritime Museum
Built in 1987 on behalf of the city line and bearing the name of Atatürk’s mother, Zübeyde Hanım, the ship was restored to serve as a museum that teaches amateur maritime after completing its life in passenger transportation in Istanbul, it was brought from Istanbul to İzmir and anchored in Karşıyaka beach where Zübeyde Hanım’s tomb is located. Floating museum was opened on 13 March 2014 in order to keep alive the memory of Atatürk’s mother Zübeyde Hanım, on the other hand, to teach young people about seamanship and sea love. In addition to historical photographs, ship materials with historical features are exhibited in the museum.
İzmir Women’s Museum
The building, which was one of the magnificent buildings of Basmane Tilkilik district, where Jews and Turks lived together until the first half of the 20th century, has the characteristics of the houses of that period. The house, in which European and traditional Turkish architectural elements are used together, is cited as an example of the genre classified as ‘Izmir House’ or ‘House of Interaction’ by some art historians and architects because of its neo-classical style facade enriched with a bay window. This museum, which is Turkey’s first women museum, was opened on January 23, 2014. It was founded in order to remind the past of Anatolian women since the agricultural revolution and how important women played in the creation of today’s civilization.
İzmir Music and Musical Instruments Museum
The 19th century building ‘Alsancak House’, which survived the Izmir fire, was restored and put into service by İKSEV after being used for different purposes over time.MUSIKSEV, whose primary goal is to reflect the rich musical history of our country and our city, was established on May 25, 2011. The museum has a sound archive and a record library, as well as musical instruments from different eras and geographies.
